An Ocean of Darkness, an Ocean of Light:
Working with Hope in Washington
Reading this article in FCNL's Washington Newsletter actually brought tears to my eyes. When reading newspapers or listening to the news, I often feel such sadness and sometimes hopelessness about what we humans do to each other both here and around the world. I was so cheered by FCNL's good reminder of all who are working for peace, justice, and equity and it lightened my heart.
We are very respectful of this quotation from George Fox and, at the same time, we carry an awareness that "darkness" has many positive aspects. For example, it is in darkness that all life, whether human, animal, or plant, begins, and it is in darkness that life is renewed in rest and sleep. ~ Ruth Carey
