CHANGES

This page was created to describe recent changes at Ann Arbor Friends Meeting (AAFM).

Starting June 15, 2025, AAFM began experimenting with changes in the schedule and form of Meetings for Worship:

• On every Sunday except when Business Meeting is held (3rd Sundays, except for August and December):
  • The first Meeting for Worship will be at 9:30 am, and will be screen-free.
  • The second Meeting for Worship will be at 11:30 am, and will be blended (both in-person and on Zoom).
• On Sundays when Business Meeting is held (3rd Sundays, except for August and December):
  • The first Meeting for Worship will be at 9:30 am, and will be parallel (separate in-person and Zoom meetings).
  • Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business will begin at 10:00 am, and will be blended.
  • The second Meeting for Worship will be at 12:00 pm, and will be blended.

The purpose of this experiment is to learn how the Meeting can better meet the needs of Friends and attenders who rely on Zoom-related technology to join our Meetings for Worship and those who find worship difficult when such technology is present.

AAFM reached unity on conducting this new experiment at a Called Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business, held on 6-1-2025.

We recognize the need for ongoing adjustments in this schedule.  We will try to keep the website up to date.

Previous History

Since August 2023, AAFM has been experimenting with changes in the schedule and form of Meetings for Worship:

• On the 1st and 2nd Sundays of each month:
  • The 9 a.m. Meeting for Worship will be in-person only.
  • The 11 a.m. Meeting for Worship will be blended (both in-person and on Zoom).
• On 3rd Sundays of most months (except August and December):
  • The 7:45 a.m. Meeting for Worship will be in-person only, in the Corner Room.
  • 9 – 11 a.m. is Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business, which will be blended.
  • The 11 a.m. Meeting for Worship will be blended.
• On the 4th Sundays of each month:
  • The 9 a.m. Meeting for Worship  will be blended.
  • The 11 a.m. Meeting for Worship will be parallel (in-person only in the Meeting Room, with a separate online Meeting on Zoom).
• On a 5th Sunday (October 29):
  • There is a single 10 a.m. Meeting for Worship, which will be blended.

Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business on 7-16-2023 reached unity on conducting this experiment.
